Creating a business rule group

Business rules are always organized into groups that contain at least one business rule.

A business rule group contains all of the validations to be used in one process step. You can use the same business rule group in multiple process steps, for example in a validation step before Verification and in Verification itself.

If you have a multi-stage capture process, you can use different business rule groups in each Verification step. (The same applies to forms.) This means that you can process different fields in different steps.

There are different types of business rule groups: one type for the Verification client and another (web business rule groups) for the Web Verification client. Web business rule groups are more limited. Only the most commonly used basic rules are available.

Use this procedure to create a business rule group and add business rules to it:

Using the XBOUND Management Center, open a console containing the Validation Designer. (For information about working with consoles, see XBOUND Help.)
Under Process Navigation, select a process.
Click the Check out button ().
Select File > New > Business Rule Group.
In the Create business rule group dialog, specify a name for the group.
If the business rule group is to be used with Web Verification, select Web business rule group.
Optional: Specify a template to base the group on. Otherwise an empty group will be created.
Optional:* Click Add () to display the Execution condition for business rule group dialog, where you specify one or more conditions that will determine whether or not the business rule group is executed.
Optional:* Reverse the condition so that the business rule group is executed when the condition is false. To do this, select Execute when false.
Select the process steps in which the business rule is to be executed.
Note: You can only assign business rule groups to Business Logic, Verification, and Web Verification process steps.
Click OK. The new group is displayed in the work area for business logic. Here you can add additional business rules, edit them, change their order, and so on.
Tip: To access the same settings as in the Create business rule group dialog, select File > Settings. This displays the settings of the active business rule group in the Business rule group settings dialog.

Tip: Get an overview of business rule groups and their process step assignments in the Assign process steps dialog. From there you can also add, delete, or edit business rule groups, as well as change their processing order.

* Not available for web business rule groups.
